Abstract
During my time at my internship at the United Way of Santa Cruz County I had the great opportunity of working with the youth advocacy program, Jovenes SANOS. I worked closely with the Jovenes SANOS youth group in efforts to help reduce the high rates of childhood obesity in the local region of the Watsonville community by creating market make over’s. We partnered with two local markets and made over the look of the stores by providing the markets with nutritional posters providing training to the market owners and their staff, and providing the market owners with affordable local fresh fruits and vegetables.
