Abstract

In Monterey County more than 25,739 families and individuals receive aid. The recipients consist of 8,162 adults and 17,577 children. Catholic Charities of the Monterey Diocese recognized a need for programs that will assist, and support families in need. A major concern is that the need for services has increased, and yet funding has declined due to the economic down turn, and the after effects of September 11, 2001. Catholic Charities of the Monterey Diocese and Parishes project was established and went into effect in 2003.
