Abstract

For my assessment I timed the student’s ability to stay focus and still during Savasana after each yoga practice. In first class I timed the students for 10 seconds by staying still and quiet and then increased the time by 10 seconds after each yoga class. Eventually the students will reach 90 seconds in staying still as they remain in Savasana. Allowing the students to stay still in a pose helped each child to focus their energy. If the child is able to stay still for a period of time in staying focus and to calm down, it showed me that the project is working. Additionally, I conducted 2 interviews with the children before the yoga classes start and after we finish all the yoga classes. The pre-interviews helped me understand the children’s level of difficulties to stay focus in their classroom. The post interview helped me understand to see if the yoga helped them with their difficulties to focus. Furthermore, I did class observations before and after the yoga classes to observe the childrens’ level of activity within the classroom. In observing the children, I compared their level of activity from after the yoga classes. This helped me see if the yoga improved the child’s focus and attention.
