Abstract

The United States is a place with a great diversity. It is important that schools use a multicultural curriculum in order to make all students (including minority groups) feel part of their school, and to teach them to respect and value all cultures. Teachers should be using multicultural children's literature in their classrooms because multicultural education is a movement toward equity. This research examines the different ways that multicultural children's literature can be used as a tool to benefit elementary school students.
