Redefining Identity: A Path to Self-Discovery
Abstract
My creative project will be a compilation of storytelling through writing poetry (free verse, Ghazal, Haiku,) and a children’s short story. My written works will reflect social identity and nature, as well as address specific social justice questions concerning these themes. I am concerned with displaying the idea that identity is an ever-changing, evolutionary process, beginning with family and environment first, and social community. All of these works combined, will reflect the interconnectedness of identity and culture, and my journey of self discovery through CSUMB’s College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. I will suggest that re-defining identity is a key to life, and explore the role and responsibility that I have as writer, and as a human being.
