Abstract
This capstone project is centered around a study and analysis of songwriting methodologies employed by American artists, Bob Dylan and Sixto Rodriguez. It is my theory that there are overlapping songwriting methodologies employed by these singer songwriters; and that those techniques play an important role in the enduring and influential quality of their works. The parameters for our case studies will be lyrics, melody/harmony, and structure. This paper will be tied to a creative project of original recorded music that reflects the aforementioned artists.
