Abstract

Teen dating violence is a prevalent problem in Santa Cruz County. Agencies throughout the community have seen an increase in the number of incidents resulting in many serious consequences. There is not enough early intervention for at risk youth addressing this issue. Therefore, while interning at the Santa Cruz County Probation Department-Juvenile Division I created a new program for youth attending the Luna Evening Center addressing teen dating violence, and healthy relationships called “Break the Cycle of Violence.” This curriculum teaches youth the consequences and the causes of why some youth engage in teen dating violence.
