The direct service provider comprehensive orientation was created for Gateway center to properly select, educate, and orient, their new hires to their new positions. The consumers of gateway depend on staff to help with daily living needs causing the direct service provider to be personally involved in the consumer's life. Thus the provider must be properly trained to effectively do their job, as they have the ability to enhance or severely decrease the consumer's quality of life.
