Abstract
Music is being removed from schools, which contradicts the immense research that has been done proving its advantages to the development of a child. The researcher conducted a literature review and interviewed professional music instructors to gather information on the importance of music for children. It was discovered that advocates are working toward a better future for music through after-school programs. Regardless of budget cuts, many still believe music should be incorporated into the classroom curriculum. Those who are strong advocates for music in the classroom continue to raise money for after school programs through fundraising and donations by the community.
