Capstone Project (B.A.) Liberal Studies Department

Abstract

For this capstone project, the author built a school garden at Meadowlark Elementary, that included 1 herb garden, 1 vegetable garden and 1 flower garden. Gardening is a great way for students to get hands-on learning in and outside of the classroom. The author also taught a number of garde-related lessons to the kindergarten classes that covered all the different subject standards while allowing the students to get their hands dirty and interact. A random survey of the parents and teachers was conducted to see if the capstone was useful.
