Abstract
Within the province of Leon, Spain is a town named Boñar, which is known for its rich culture connected to the mining industry. In the summer of 2019, I conducted field research to discover the role women played during the mining industry within this town. While in the field looking for women that fit my criteria, I came across many locals who would direct me toward men for my interviews instead of the women I am in search of. This essay explores the idea that the townspeople of Boñar have been socialized to send questions about mining to the men in town.
