Abstract
Alexis Sturgeon created this poem to reflect identity pressures that parents place on their children, even when they are adults entering college. Parents can often appear ignorant and irrational of the issues that face the youth today. This piece focuses on the traditional ideals that many parents possess and the motives behind wanting to raise and present their child with conventional ethics in a liberal society.
