Description

Included are two legal battles that the United Farm Workers (UFW) faced. One was to address the violent actions of security guards hired by growers to oversee farm workers. The second legal battle was against the Teamsters union. Cesar Chavez, with the assistance of Jerry Cohen, an UFW lawyer, advocated for the UFW to be the main union to support farm workers. At the time, the Teamsters union was engaged in a number of illicit activities.
