    Monterey Peninsula Japanese American Citizens League

    Scrapbook of the Monterey Peninsula Japanese American Citizens League. Consists primarily of newspaper clippings from the Monterey Peninsula Herald and Pacific Citizen, the bulk of which pertain to social activities and charity benefits organized by the JACL, as well as the chapter's involvement in various community events, such as the annual Fourth of July parade. Also included is a black and white photograph of the JACL San Francisco chapter, and a souvenir program from the 1941 Northern California District Convention, which was held in Monterey.

    Scrapbook of the Monterey Peninsula Japanese American Citizens League. Consists chiefly of newspaper clippings about the activities of the JACL and Women's Auxiliary, including social events such as dances and barbecues, installation dinners recognizing officer appointments, and membership drives. Several clippings also note the academic achievements of Junior JACL members, sports activities organized by groups such as the Northern California Nisei Golf Association, and JACL's contributions to the community. Additional contents include small color photographs of various locations around Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel-by-the-Sea; programs for installation dinners and district council meetings; an event program for the 16th Biannual National JACL Convention in Sacramento, California, which unfolds to show a map of the convention site; and a small booklet about the history of the JACL and its role in advocating for the rights of Nisei and Issei.

    Scrapbook of the Monterey Peninsula Junior Japanese American Citizens League. Presented as a gift and dedicated to the graduating members of the Junior JACL, class of 1965. Contains black and white and color photographs of members at various meetings and social activities, including dances, dinners, picnics, and at the beach. Group outings to Big Sur, Bolado Park, and the Dodge Ridge Ski Area are also documented. Additional contents include a roll call of members; a program for the Northern California - Western Nevada District Council Second Quarterly Banquet; a program for the Monterey Peninsula JACL 1967 installation dinner; an invitation to the JACL President's Party; tickets to "Escape to Monterey," an event organized by the Junior JACL; and newspaper clippings recognizing the achievements of Junior JACL members.

    Scrapbook of the Monterey Peninsula Junior Japanese American Citizens League. Features color photographs of Junior JACL members playing games together and socializing at dinners, dances, picnics, and at the beach. Several photographs also document the group's trip to Utah for the National Junior JACL Convention. A number of pages include captions cut from magazines and other sources, and humorous speech bubbles are pasted to many of the photographs. Additional contents include a 1972 installation dinner program, with names of JACL and Junior JACL officers; a letter to Karen Sakai, President of the Junior JACL, from Colonel Commandant Kibbey M. Horne; brochures of sightseeing and recreational destinations on the Monterey Peninsula; a program for the 4th Biennial National Junior JACL Convention at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City; a program for the Fourth Quarterly Sequoia Jr. JACL meeting, held in Palo Alto, California; and Monterey Peninsula JACL newsletters from November and December 1972.
