Abstract

This project introduced a literacy curriculum, Pre-K Proficiency Program (PPP), to a private preschool in Santa Cruz County. The project was created for fourteen preschoolers ages two to five. The project involved small group instruction with original worksheets per age group over the course of three months. Each child was given a worksheet packet at a lower age level to test their ability. After a quick lower age level review, the students were given their appropriate age level worksheets. The children showed a great deal of improvement in their letters and sound executions. This project validates that implementing a literacy program into a preschool environment will improve the child’s development.
