Abstract
The article focuses on the benefits of physical activity on elementary school students. Research on the topic shows positive impact of physical activity in children; therefore, ten-minutes exercise breaks were implemented during class time to help students improve academic performance and physical development. A variety of different physical activities were designed and placed together as lesson plans to be performed by students during the assigned breaks to help them have a fresh restart on the assignment they were working on. The implementation of this project had no additional cost to school; therefore, it was very accessible to the school’s budget. Students who participated during the implementation of this project seemed to have a positive attitude towards the exercise breaks; although, improvement in academic performance could not be proved.
