Abstract

For this project-based thesis a model for an interactive web-based educational program was constructed through the use of computer technology. The purpose of this project is to teach both English and Greek languages simultaneously, so that bilingual acquisition is realized for 1st and 2nd grade Greek students in the areas of reading and writing. Being non-commercial and web-based, educators and parents will have free access to the program both in and out of the classroom. The program was developed through a review of literature supporting constructivism and situated cognition. Two native Greek elementary students product tested the model, thus substantiating its age-appropriateness and interactivity. Future development of the program will focus on assessment and additional curricular components for educators.
