Abstract

Community Solutions is a non-profit organization that provides services for victims/survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence or human trafficking. Community Solutions serves the communities of Santa Clara County and part of San Benito County. The macro level problem is that the rates of all types of abuse in Santa Clara County are increasing. The micro level problem is that too many cases of abuse go unreported in Santa Clara County. The project purpose is to increase participant’s knowledge about the different types of abuse and the risks for abuse and prevention opportunities at the agency (hotline crisis line). Using the online social network Facebook to virtually reach out to the local communities, this outreach effort provides viewers with information about related topics and the agency’s services and resources available for anyone dealing with abuse. This capstone project provided information regarding the types of abuse there are and the resources available for them. People in the community will feel empowered and will seek out for services from the agency to help with their abuse. Community Solutions should continue to hold the Facebook Live sessions in both Spanish and English segments about various topics regarding all types of abuse.
