Abstract
Some community college students may lack the advocacy skills necessary for success in navigating community college and their educational pathways towards earning a degree or transferring to a four-year institution. Consequently, students may inadvertently slow their academic progress, stay within the community college setting longer than they had desired, and neglect to take advantage of the available resources. In order to address this issue, I formulated a lesson to inform community college students at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California of the importance of advocating for themselves within an educational setting and on key advocacy skills to help them do so.
