Abstract
After School programs offer significant benefits to students. They support students by offering tutoring, homework assistance, enrichment activities that reinforce classroom learning, and helping young students develop essential skills in reading, math, and critical thinking. The purpose of my capstone project is to examine the benefits of afterschool programs on the academic success of lower elementary school students. Through literature review, interviews with teachers, a coordinator, an academic coordinator, an administrator, and anonymous student surveys, the result findings indicated that afterschool programs are important and have benefited students in meeting their needs to foster their success. It also highlights the importance of school-based intervention programs, along with safe and supervised time, as key factors for success.
