Abstract

My senior internship placement was at the Monterey County Department of Social and Employment Services (MCDSES) in the Emergency Response (ER) Unit in Seaside. The main purpose of this unit is to assess the safety of children who are at risk of child abuse and/or neglect, provide client advocacy and refer families to other services. For my capstone project I created a community needs survey. The intention of this survey was to get information from community members in order to know what their major needs are and what services they have used in the past. With the data collected social workers from the unit will know what services the community needs and make future recommendations to expand services that are still needed.
