Abstract
Nearly 1 million youth, varying in ages from six to twenty-one, have at least one form of a learning disability and receive special education services. Learning disabilities negatively affect the brain’s ability to process social information necessary to make good decisions. In fact the number of incarcerated youth with learning disabilities ranges from 30% to 70%. Through the Individual Learning Plan: Glossary of Terms Senior Capstone Project, a collaborative has been fostered between the Santa Cruz County Department of Education and the Santa Cruz County Probation Department.
