Abstract
Through the many years of service learning, I have learned that many elementary schools are no longer teaching physical education as often as they used to. Teachers turn their focus to subjects, such as math and reading, in hopes to improve standardized test scores. The purpose of my capstone is to examine the benefits of implementing physical education into elementary school curriculum. Through the use of literature reviews, surveys, and observations, the finding reveals that there are many benefits to including physical education. These benefits include the development of motor skills, cognitive benefits as well as health benefits to elementary school students.
