Abstract
With the introduction of the Common Core standards into elementary classrooms, there will be new teaching pedagogies introduced into the classrooms. Some of these pedagogies will be more effective and innovative than others. With more in depth standards being fully implemented in 2015, it is important for elementary teachers to implement innovative teaching pedagogies to meet the Common Core standards. Through interviews of teachers at an elementary school in Salinas, various innovative teaching pedagogies have been examined on how effective they are in the classrooms. Although the ideas introduced with the Common Core standards are new to the elementary school level, through professional development and creativity, teachers have already started to develop new innovative ways of teaching in their classrooms.
