Abstract
The focus of this capstone project, was to learn how to increase the excitement of students to learn. That is, learning should be seen as an exciting adventure for students, instead of dull and boring. Two teachers and a children’s ministry director were interviewed. Findings from the research indicated the importance of designing a welcoming classroom environment that involves celebrating success with students and building teacher to student relationships. One teacher redesigned her classroom by painting the walls with the ocean, fields and trees that represent the students’ local community. The researcher and a local children’s ministry director collaborated to redesign a new preschool classroom layout. The new classroom layout was developed to create stations for children to move around the classroom to stay attentive. Teachers should develop a classroom to meet the needs of all their students, so that the students can stay focused in order to succeed.
