Abstract
Global awareness is an issue that is rarely discussed in elementary education, but it greatly impacts the creation of advocates for change. The research concluded that individuals in the community cared about such crucial issues, but were not educated enough on the topics at hand, which resulted in not knowing how they could make a difference. Three themes emerged from the research: lack of global education, working collaboratively as a community, and parent/teacher involvement of global education in the classroom, as well as at home. The action for global awareness was educating those individuals who were less knowledgeable of how they could be advocates for change. The accomplished goal at hand was to bring a new sense of advocacy for global awareness into communities. Through such advocacy, awareness has the ability to make a greater impact than action; it is the start of a change movement to think globally and act locally.
