Abstract
In the following decade, the incidents of young students taking part in sexual activity in a school environment have become more predominant. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, teenage birthrates have increased nationwide by thirteen percent (13%) since 1980. This capstone investigates the responsibilities of public education system with regard to sex education. The primary question is used to examine what needs to be redefined in the sex education curriculum from fourth through ninth grade through the eyes of two educators. As a result, sex education program in California is out of date, so it needs to be revised to start from fourth grade and abstinence and contraceptive approach should be included in the curriculum.
