Abstract

Autism is a social disorder that affects 1 in every 150 children. Parents often have trouble connecting with their Autistic child due to the child's lack of understanding in regards to social interaction. This is why I decided to create an accessible form of information for parents of children with Autism. I partnered with Easter Seals, a nationwide organization designed to provide services to children and adults living with autism and other disabilities or special needs, and their families. Easter Seals' Central California branch has recently created a training program for parents of children with Autism. I have put together a survey to evaluate the effectiveness of this training program which will be included in their upcoming grant proposal. I have also created a pamphlet with basic facts regarding Autism, as well as a list of the services Easter Seals provides in regard to their parent training program.
