Abstract
Multicultural Literature is an important component of an education for all children. Especially, for those children from diverse ethnic backgrounds who needs Children's Multicultural Literature in their first language as well as English. The arching problem is that there is the lack of available Thai children's multicultural literature in the public library. The main objective of this project was making a proposal to the Monterey Public Library to provide Thai Children's Multicultural Literature in both Thai and English for the Thai children in the area. Since the Monterey Library and other libraries in the area provide children's multicultural literature in just about every minority languages along side with English in print such as Spanish, Vietnamese, Laos, Mong, Cambodia, Chinese, and Korean, but none in Thai. Children's Multicultural Literature not only teaches these children of their own language, but the history of their family's heritage and the land where their family or their ancestors came from. Most children from diverse background often feel that their own family's heritage is inferior to the pluralistic one. Therefore, they don't feel there is a need to learn their first language, and often when they grow up they expressing the regret for not have learned their first language when they were young. Teachers can also, use these books incorporate into multiple subjects' lesson plan, such as language-art, diverse cultural perspective, historical relevant, arts form, and geography.
