Abstract
This literature review overviews and examines different bodies of work, including printed sources, journal articles, reports and electronic sources that discuss and define the experience of teaching abroad as a whole. Teaching abroad is defined as any teaching professional that expatriates him or herself in order to teach one or many subjects in a country that is not of his or her origin. This report overviews the literature on why teachers go abroad, how they are and are not successful, the influence of language on the experience, pedagogical exchanges and different organizations that promote this process.
