Abstract
This project focused on the effects of bringing disability awareness to students in a resource classroom, then using that disability awareness to promote self-avocation in the students by having them then set their own appropriate goals by themselves. This was achieved by working a group of third and fourth graders on reading, and a group of fourth graders who were focusing on math. The project had two main parts to it. The first step was disability awareness which was accomplished by a discussion about disabilities. Once the student’s had a better grasp of disabilities, then the second step was goal setting in which the students then set appropriate goals for themselves using the smart goals worksheet provided. After they set their goals they then worked toward their goal.
