Description

An Act appropriating certain sums for sundry civil expenses for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1898, including, among other things, expenses incurred in connection with the collection of revenue from sales of public lands, protection of public lands, settlement of public lands and swamp-land claims, hearings held by General Land Office to determine whether alleged fraudulent entries had been made in compliance with law, reproducing plats of surveys, and for surveying or resurveying public lands. (p.32) Provided that any forest reservation if found better adapted for mining or agricultural purposes than forest usage, could be restored to the public domain. (p. 36)
