Abstract
In order to support the challenges first-generation students face while transitioning into college, we must: provided opportunities for them to gain a better sense of belonging, provide adequate resources, and encourage them to utilize services on campus. College students are also navigating and experiencing more identity exploration, feeling of being in-between adolescence and adulthood, and are having broader possibilities for the future. In order to address the challenges first-generation students face within higher educational institutions, I have created a 2-day lesson plan. This lesson plan covers: obstacles first-generations students face, programs that they are eligible for and can help them navigate through college, enhance their social relationships, and provide emotional and financial support. I delivered it to college participants from the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) at California State University, Monterey Bay.
