Abstract
Research shows that the mental health crisis among collegiate athletes' has become an increasingly alarming issue. However, there is little done regarding the advocation for athletes on college campuses across the nation. At the junior college level, this reigns to be true, as research conducted shows there to be little research available on this group. This paper introduces a workshop that emphasizes the awareness of mental wellness and coping strategies for junior college (JUCO) athletes. The main goal of this workshop was to create a conversation about mental wellness at the JUCO level, as a majority of research was done at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 level. The results of this workshop showed the participants had a great understanding of the topics presented to them, and a sense of community was created.
