Abstract

This senior capstone explores the benefits of integrating music into the elementary school curriculum. The research draws on the experiences of teachers in Monterey County, who provide personal input and beliefs on this topic. Through the use of literature review, one classroom observation, interviews with four teachers and a student survey with one class, the findings indicate that integrating music into the classroom is essential and has a positive impact on the overall students’ academic success. Therefore, schools should recognize that music serves as a key role in the education of young minds that could unlock children’s potential to achieve academic excellence.
