Abstract
Schooling and education plays a pivotal role in a child’s learning and in their socio-emotional development. However, elementary school children are not receiving enough curriculum on emotions and emotional regulation. It is crucial for a child to have the ability to identify and express their emotions, as well as the ability to self-regulate. To address the lack of curriculum surrounding the identification of emotions and emotional regulation, I created a two-day lesson plan about identifying emotions, and ways to regulate emotions, and delivered it to the kindergarteners and first graders of the after school program at Oasis Charter Public School in Salinas, California.
