Abstract
Education has been a pivotal point for members of this society to move up the economic ladder. Education has the ability to allow individuals to be exposed to different experiences. There has always been a divide when it comes to education, especially for students of color. Today, young learners that aren’t as well off are having to go to schools that are filled with police and metal detectors and have to deal with systemic racism on a daily basis. School systems have many things that need to change in order for students to have a better chance of being successful. Education is something that everyone needs and shouldn’t be different just because of a student's neighborhood or financial status. As a future educator, this project will help me to become aware of all of the programs that are in place that could potentially damage a child's behavior and mindset. Without proper programs that help combat systemic racism, the effects on students can be detrimental.
