Abstract
Many racially and ethnically diverse women face obstacles when recognizing mental health issues and accessing mental health treatment. Because they are not aware of mental health resources and treatment, they may perceive stigmas related to mental health, cultural expectations around mental health, and a lack of awareness of the available resources. When they recognize mental health issues and seek support, they can reduce stress, take control of their emotions and environment, and build understanding and self-acceptance. To address these issues, I created a one-day mental health awareness program for a group of racially and ethnically diverse female employees from the Aerie company in Monterey, California.
