Abstract
The Health Improvement Partnership of Santa Cruz County is a nonprofit organization providing services to member organizations, including, the Empathy Effect- workshops that teach healthcare professionals tools to become more empathetic. Too many patients face negative health outcomes as a result of poor provider-patient relationships and too many healthcare providers lack empathy with their patients. The purpose of this project is to evaluate the effectiveness of the Empathy Effect workshops, through an analysis of secondary data collected from workshop forms, questionnaires, and pre- and post surveys and follow up interviews with workshop participants. The expected outcome is to determine the effectiveness of the workshops. Important findings from data analysis reveals that a total of 200 people were able to receive the training from 2018-2019. The next step the agency can take would be to reach out to more organizations and train more participants.
