Abstract
The intent of this capstone project is to raise awareness and educate the monolingual Hispanic community regarding what constitutes child abuse and neglect. This project will focus on physical abuse. I will discuss the possible consequences of physical punishment and why this form of discipline is used often in the monolingual Spanish- speaking community. In collaboration with the Monterey County Department of Social and Employment Services-Family and Children's Services (DSES-FCS), the Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC), and a local radio station, I created two Spanish radio commercials to raise the awareness of the monolingual Spanish-speaking community.
