Abstract
The struggle that is represented in this Capstone is an ethical and moral struggle against socialization and oppression. This Capstone focuses on the training of the advocates at the Monterey Rape Crisis Center to develop an ethical awareness of an advocate's role with survivors of an oppressed group. To help define an advocate's motivation different styles of community participation through helping, fixing, rescuing, and serving are presented. Privilege is the fundamental idea that is defined to help develop an ethical awareness for advocates of societal power struggles. Privilege is questioned in the relation to ethics and in the context of advocacy. The advocates' reactions, thoughts, and comments on the information provided are incorporated in the Capstone.
