Abstract
This paper analyses how the media, concentrating within the genre of music videos and lyrics effect the way young teenage girls think and feel about their sexuality and the roll [i.e. role] sexual activity plays within sexuality. Using both Madonna and Britney Spears as popular music icons as examples, this paper looks at the positive and negative messages presented to teenage girls from the early 1980s to today. Focusing on how today's teens see sex as a guide to finding their sexuality and sexual identity rather than a part of it.
