Abstract
Performing arts are a very important component of a child’s development, but it is often left out of the elementary school curriculum. Performing arts education helps a student develop both their emotional and social skills. This senior capstone research project examines the literature that has been conducted on the subject as well as a theatre program at a local elementary school. It looks at the impact on a child’s self-esteem, their class participation, and their overall mental and emotional well-being. The goal of this capstone is to inform others on the importance of performing arts education at the elementary school level.
