Abstract
Parent involvement is critical to children’s lives, and the lack thereof can be detrimental to children as they may not feel supported in their academic and lifestyle endeavors. This project is a case study of a group of parents whose children attend an after school program. Data was collected from surveys from parents in order to determine the reasons why parents are not involved in their children’s educational experiences. Results revealed that parents are less involved due to time constraints, lack of communication with educators, and limited knowledge about the different ways they can be involved. Therefore, the researcher designed and implemented a Family Night to increase the parents’ awareness of their influence on the children and encourage them to become more involved.
