Abstract
This project was the culmination of research done over four years about dance instruction on the Monterey Peninsula. After searching for a place for young men and women to further their dance technique and skill beyond high school studio work, efforts were made to interview dance instructors from a local community college program with an existing, but dwindling dance program. All attempts proved futile. With the lack of communication and lack of options, efforts were re-directed towards creating the dance curriculum within the researcher’s own university. More specifically, an effort was made to create a one-unit activity dance class that would be appropriate and contribute to the students’ overall learning at said university.
