Abstract
The transition into middle school is marked with a number of changes. Once the students enter middle school the dynamics of their peer relationships and academics change. The project itself was designed in attempts to retrieve data and raise awareness at a local middle school in Marina, California. The project consisted of surveying the entire sixth grade population at Los Arboles middle school, followed by an awareness program, and finally concluding with a written reflection from the students. In the end, the project has provided information that shows how local 6th grade students are affected by the issues that come as a result of the transition into middle school.
