Abstract

Due to state budget cuts and educational policies such as NCLB, the arts have been cut from many schools' curriculum and many teachers are feeling pressure to teach to the standardized tests. The purpose of our project is to provide valuable, useful and creative resources for teachers so as to encourage artistic integration in classrooms and foster an environment where students are engaged and committed to learning. The resource we created includes both a resource binder and an informational pamphlet. The resource binder is intended for teachers' use in the classroom with lesson plans, integrating the arts with state standards, as well as a section committed to local arts community resources and happenings.
