Abstract
The capstone explores physical education in grades kindergarten through six grade and its correlations on academic achievement. The following areas of research are included: exercise and its effects on the brain, cognitive function, and the obesity epidemic. The goal of the literature is to make educators, parents, and children aware of the positive effects that physical education can have on academic achievement and the importance of having physical education programs implemented into our elementary classrooms.
