Abstract
Art can be used in many aspects of classroom curriculum and can make a huge impact in a student’s learning experience in and out of the classroom. In this Capstone Project, the researcher investigated what educational art lessons are being provided at the first grade level, and what Common Core Art Curriculum standards are included in the first grade. The researcher interviewed first grade teacher about educational art within her school and classroom, and surveyed first grade students about the amount of art experience they have had in the classroom. Based on an analysis of the data and the relevant research literature, the researcher formulated educational art lesson plans that align with specific first grade Common Core Curriculum Standards.
