Abstract
School gardens are a common addition to elementary schools, but teachers are finding it challenging and unnecessary to incorporate their time and everyday curriculum into the garden environment. School gardens are being neglected due to time restrictions and teachers needing to spend the maximum amount of time on required curriculum in the classroom. This capstone focuses on the beneficial factors that students can receive by properly implementing the school garden in to everyday curriculum, and how teachers can successfully incorporate the garden into their curriculum. By creating a garden based program and lesson plans that incorporate required subjects, teachers will be able to spend the necessary amount of time teaching required subjects while also utilizing the school garden and the many benefits that come with it.
